About Us

Eloquence and presentability in verbal communication has been known to help one's progress in life. The effects of learning the art of communication such as improved social skills, leadership skills, and charisma is lifelong benefits that greatly impact one's sense of achievement and happiness. We at the TACL Toastmasters Club strive to provide a safe and affordable environment for our members to improve their communication skills through public speaking.
Our club has been active for more than 20 years, and we have many ongoing great programs. Two of our excellent highlights, biannual competition and mentor program, challenges the experienced members to hone up their best skills while nurtures the new members with friendly personal assistances.
We are part of the Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization founded in 1924 by Ralph C. Smedley. As in 2009, Toastmasters International operates more than 12,000 clubs worldwide and has been embraced by many large institutions as part of their continuing education. Our experience-based certificates of accomplishment are widely recognized in the business world and always add highlights in one's curriculum vitae. The TACL club has received many distinguished club awards from the Toastmasters International along the years and plays an active role in contributing to the larger toastmasters community. To the Asian and Asian-American community, The TACL Toastmasters is one of the very few clubs that is organized by Asians and extends its hands to people of Asian origins. In fulfilling this important niche, we strive to offer the opportunity to experience the excellent educational programs from Toastmasters International while at the same time provide a way for many Asians living in Houston to overcome their cultural and language barriers.
We always open our hands to any new members. Our members come from different backgrounds and disciplines, Americans and non-Americans alike. We accept candidates with English as their native tongue as well as those who do not speak English at home. With that said, many Asian immigrants and students choose to join our club and follow our programs, in order to survive and succeed in the foreign climate of the United States. Many of our members testify that the skills acquired through our club have benefited them in many ways, including better career path and in landing jobs.
